Cardiff

Five villages, one road

Radyr, Morganstown, Taffs Well, Tongwynlais and Pentyrch sit along the Taff between Cardiff and the start of the valleys. From our base it is a short run down the A470 rather than a trip across the city, so this district costs us less driving than anywhere else on the Cardiff side.

Pentyrch is the exception: it is up the hill and narrow to get to, so it takes a bit more planning. It is still on the round.

Family houses with gardens attached to them

The stock here is largely detached and semi detached family housing, a good deal of it with a utility room, a downstairs toilet and a back door that opens onto a garden. All three change a clean. A utility is a small room with a lot of surface, a downstairs toilet is a whole extra bathroom in miniature, and a garden means the kitchen floor is doing more work than it looks.

Tell the form what is actually there. It quotes on rooms rather than on the outside of the house, and it will price a four bedroom bungalow and a four bedroom townhouse the same way, which is correct: the rooms are the work.

Keys and side gates

Most houses here have somewhere to leave a key safe or a side gate with a bolt on the inside. Whatever the arrangement is, it goes on the property record and the code lives encrypted, opened for one visit at a time and logged when it is opened.

A quiet street and a strange van

In a village where people know each other's cars, somebody letting themselves into a house on a Tuesday morning is worth explaining to a neighbour in advance. You will know the cleaner's name before the first visit, so you can.

Everything that opens a door here is logged: which visit, which cleaner, and the time. If you ever want to know who was in the house on a particular morning, you can look rather than ask.

If you are out when we come, leave a key or a code. It is held encrypted and opened for one cleaner, for one visit.

How we leave it

The bit you notice

We go the extra mile to make your home feel special. Little touches we know you will enjoy, on every visit.

  • Two folded white towels stacked on a shelf with a sprig of eucalyptus

    Towels folded and squared.

  • Two towels folded into a bow on an oven door handle

The bow on the oven door.

  • A sofa with cushions squared and blankets stacked and folded

    Cushions squared, blankets stacked.

  • A toilet roll with the end folded into a fan

    The paper folded, hotel style.

What you get

A photographic report after every visit. What was done, the reason for anything skipped, and how long the cleaner was there.

The same cleaner, named before they arrive. Not a different stranger each time.

Move or cancel any visit, free, until noon the day before. Not a phone call to somebody who will try to talk you out of it.

A price before you commit. Three answers on this page, no phone call, no survey, no card taken.

Our cleaners are not there to get out of the door. They are there to leave your home properly clean.

Every cleaner at The Whistle Co completes two weeks of formal training before their first clean, keeps training, and has their work reviewed regularly. Every room is cleaned to a detailed checklist and the finished work is photographed, so your home is in good hands.
